Ready for tandems, great 4th of July

Weather aside, the club has enjoyed a successful month. The tug is up and running; we have a full-time tug pilot in place; and we now have two tandem gliders. Mark is an independent contractor for the club and is using his tandem glider for lessons and tandems, and the club just purchased Steve Rewolinski's T-2 Northwing.

Our next step is to market intro tandems, which are a great source of club funding. Tandems give the club immediate income, and a tandem might just convince a student to take hang gliding lessons and become a club member. If you know anyone that would like to go for a tandem—just for the experience or to check out the sport, please call our tug pilot Joel Fenley at 423-596-7465.

A big thank you goes out all who made our Fourth of July weekend a huge success.  We enjoyed some fantastic flying and fellowship. A special thank you goes to Jeff and Pam Nielson for their spur-of-the-moment club fundraiser. Jeff took individuals up in his trike for $20 per person and donated all proceeds to the club. One woman remarked that she now understands why her boyfriend enjoys hang gliding so much.
